stock checkout, more options?

I would like to be able to create multiple options for stock checkout, example:

when the stock reaches 0 there are 3 options:
- out of stock
- 3-5 working days (there could be more of these with different leadtimes)
- pre-order

I would like to be able to set whether or not checkout is possible for each stock option, out of stock in this example should not be able to checkout, whilst the other 2 should.

Another option is to add this to the product: 'can be bought'

In my example case it's about a product which is no longer available but I would still like to show it in the shop (out of stock), at the same time, a new product should be pre-order-able. At this moment this is a conflict, either both can be ordered or neither.

I've been looking to see if there is a mod but I can't seem to find any, does anyone know if this exists before I start re-inventing the wheel?
