Hello,

I am in the process of creating an opencart powered site (thank-you to all the people involved in the opencart project). My question is: How do I start to build a bespoke shipping module with the problem below?

My problem:

A) I have two shipping zones (band A and band B)
B) I have three unit charges (small, medium, large)
C) Multiple items are charged @ £12.50 per extra unit (no matter what shipping band or size of unit).

Thanks.

Or I suppose it could be calculated another way:

Flat rate per unit £12.50p
+
Weight based surcharge Band A: under 30kg; under 50kg; over 50kg.
or
Weight based surcharge Band B: under 30kg; under 50kg; over 50kg.

Does anyone have any experience in this?

Thanks again.

It sounds like you could use Item-Based Shipping for that, if you just have simple rates based on the number of items. For example:

From: 0, To: 99999, Charge: 12.50, Per (#): 1

If that won't work, it's likely you could use Formula-Based Shipping to create an item-based + weight-based rate. Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site (which includes some examples of various set-ups), then let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
