Selling Event Photos

Ok here is the setup:

I have a non-profit organization that is already using OpenCart to sell products. But this organization also hosts many events and they want to be able to sell the downloadable photos taken at these events through OpenCart. So I was thinking, use the product gallery feature to display all of the available photos (with tiles) and then use the Options feature so that the end-user can choose the photo(s) they want to purchase for download. But the dilemma is, how do I correspond downloadable products with product options.

Is there an extension/vQmod that could help me accomplish this or something like it?

Currently, we have a time consuming process where we upload the photos to the server and use a plugin that automatically adds the photos in to the downloadable products list. Then make a category that corresponds to the event and manually make each photo a product with preview images, etc. This is very time consuming if you have 100 or so photos for sell.
