Filter By Manufacturer

I would like to remove the 'Sort By' dropdown list and instead of it have a 'Filter by Manufacture' dropdown, which would function similar to the current dropdown, but will only shop products for the selected manufacture.

Does anyone know how i can do this?

I made this modification some time ago. I'll see if I can find the time to write a 'guide' for it. Otherwise you could pm me your ftp details, and I could easily apply it to your site.
