Personally, I recommend linux hosting. You should pick a good web host. Hostgator should be fine so you might wish to consider that.

I would only host on a Linux server and wouldn't think of using a Windoze server. I agree with MarketInSG, you just have had bad hosts. I use Hands-on Web Hosting and haven't had a thing to complain about. $4-5 a month for the cheapest shared hosting all the way up to dedicated servers in the US and UK.

I agree.

I'd only ever trust a GNU/Linux server. If providers have crashing servers and are running linux then they are doing something wrong, perhaps using a bleeding edge distribution as a server OS (bad idea) or simply don't know how to configure them correctly. In which case may be a good idea to look at another provider :).

I know that I don't run a "big name hosting company" but I'd like to earn your business and have you host your site(s) with us. The hosting plans are run on a VPS server but not sold as a VPS package. You'll get many of the VPS features without the cost as well as the reduced amount of resources being used on the server. We do offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you're not satisfied and can help with your OpenCart issues along the way (additional charges depending on the issues). You can either PM me or email sales@cwswebsitedesign.com for more info.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hmm..

Well, cloud is a form of hosting, where as cpanel is software for user controlled hosting options.

Generally options to compare are:
- Shared Hosting
- VPS
- Dedicated
- Cloud

The type you may need is entirely dependant on either expected traffic, or current traffic.

If you are unsure on the type of hosting you need, it may be worth checking out this thread:

Hope this helps :).
