Free shipping is active even after removing items from cart

Hi,

I'm really sorry If duplicate any thread here but I just couldn't find the answer for this issue:

I have set up that Free shipping will be enabled when a limit of 100$ is reached. And it works.

Problem is, that it still remains active when some item is dropped from the cart in checkout and price gets under 100$ limit.

It should instead get me a step back to choose from paid shipping options, but it let me to confirm the order with free shipping.

Is there a way how to solve it?

I don't believe this happens in a default installation, at least in any 1.5.x versions. If you've installed any extensions or made any modifications, try undoing them one-by-one to see if they're causing the issue.
