Specific shipping for customer groups

It would be great if Customer Groups had editable options for shipping (i.e. flat rate shown for wholesale customers only). Or it could be done the other way around, having the shipping forms include the customer group options to apply to.

Any help as to how to do this would be much appreciated.

All of the built-in shipping methods can only apply a single customer group, so you would need to duplicate the extension in order to have different rates for different groups. This involves at least some coding ability, or hiring someone to do it for you.

An easier method, if you don't mind a commercial solution, is to use Multi Flat Rate Shipping if you just need flat rates on a per-customer-group, or Formula-Based Shipping if you need more options than that.
