I am implementing an opencart system that rather than the user adding to a cart then checking out to make a payment I need them to have their cart/wish list passed to an enquiry form so they can complete the extra details and then submit this to the site owner.

I am considering just intercepting the checkout process so you hit a button for "make enquiry" then going to ta totally custom page to process but just wanted to check there's nothing that currently does this anyway..

Just use free checkout so the customer can checkout without paying for anything but still have the basket with all the contents. When they place the "order" you will have captured all of the information about the user so you can contact them.

Just change the view / tpl files to display information that they are submitting an enquiry rather than placing an order etc.

ok, that may simplify things actually. I do need to capture more info than jsut the basic cart but I could modify the checkout page to add some fields and process them to the database. Then modify the views in the admin to display etc.
