In general, I use only UPS shipping, but I have a couple of manufacturers that offer free shipping. I'm looking for a shipping extension that can handle a mixed shopping cart.
If the cart has only items from the manufacturers that offer free shipping, the shipping should be free.
If the cart has only items from manufacturers that don't offer free shipping, use the UPS shipping rate.
If the cart has a mixture of items, subtract the weight of the free-shipping items from the cart and get the UPS rate for the reduced weight and note that some items have free shipping.
Is there any extension available that offers this much flexibility?

You can mostly get this set up with Restrict Shipping Methods. You would do the following:
1. Set the weights of the free products to 0, so they won't affect the UPS rate
2. Set a restriction so that Free Shipping only appears when the cart weight is 0
3. Set a restriction so that UPS only appears when the cart weight is 0.01 or over
It won't denote which items are free shipping or not, but it should give the correct shipping rates for all orders.
