After weeks and weeks and weeks of 18 hour days in the converting of my static HTML site to an Opencart based framework, we (my website and I) reached a milestone today and registered our first sale. Which of course made some of those 5 a.m. to bed mornings seem a little more easily forgettable and forgiveable...

I didn't consider it was ready enough to showcase yet, but I think the first sale qualifies "readiness" and deserves some small brief celebration before pushing on to further development. So without further ado, here's a sample -- a category page that helped create the sale:
http://yamaha-parts.victordrummond.net/ ... gine-parts

Now My store is on a sub.domain, one of many being planned for future. I have no plans to use default shop (I have other plans for main domain front page). For now new website has the following technical features:

Responsive and functonal Sellagance template by Luis. Theme character change by me

SEO URL's enabled

VQMOD2.2.2

VQMOD Route Eitor by Jay

VQMOD Better Pproducts URL by Jay

VQMOD Custom H1 tags by Jay

VQMOD Custom Title tags by Jay

VQMOD Custom HTML in any module position

VQMOD Bulk Product Uploader - not used yet

Aus Post Postage Calculator

Remove the last link deluxe

ckeditor disabled (allowing custom code in content or any module position)

How I've approached the linking structure, and about the leading of customers on a planned tour of my store is where I think my store is unique to most other on-line store philosophies. As an example of this idea is that my HTML site had NO top nor sidebar menu and all my customers whom I got to know more personally said they enjoyed the journey of individual links with the page. This time I've gone with a little more structured header menu for people to find categories easier but still with a mix of links within articles and custom HTML positions...

This leads me one further idea I wanted to share which is the creation of static articles as sub-categories of topics such as "tutorials". This enables the addition of relevant products to articles and to the ability to place micro blogs with anchor text links to other articles of relevance from any other category or page,<b>much in the same way as that supreme idea of combining and interchanging of modules beween Wordpress and Opencart</b>.

Discover a little more of what I mean by having a look for the links to relevant articles in the right column of this main-category page: http://yamaha-parts.victordrummond.net/ ... utch-parts
Each article has relevant products that are linked to these "sub-categories" (which have high sort order so they never become part of the canonical URL for the product.).

What's further interesting is that at least these three "article" I have written using this idea have been indexed by google with an authorship tag associated with my google + id and they got indexed quite quickly as you would expect with a powerful blogging platform, yet I'm pleasantly surprised I got that result quite quickly with opencart. So I'm going with the plan to create my articles and blogs utilizing the current structure.

Anyway, I hope you like my site...

Hi there,

I don't have motorcycle myself. But well done on your first sale even though your store is not even launched yet.

Look forward to seeing it when it completed.
