I am using version 1.5.1.3.1 & installed in a subfolder, the problem is
when i click any produuct like hp in carousel ,it is redirecting to the home page.
I can see the link here
system settings>Design>banners> link
/index.php?route=product/manufacturer/product&manufacturer_id=7
But it is redirecting to home page but not hp products page.How can i change the link so that it should redirect to type of manufacturer like hp products.
have you turned on SEO URLS in your store system Settings ?
If so have you made the .htaccess.txt file name change to just .htaccess ?
If so and because your store resides in a subfolder, have you edited the .htaccess RewriteBase line to read
RewriteBase /subfolder/

i have followed your steps & turned on seo urls, changed RewriteBase / line to my subfolder & renamed to .htaccess
But even though my links are not working..

For banners you have to manually enter the link you want the banner to go to via your admin System - Design - Banners
