I regularly save all my work as a backup as you should. I recently changed over webhosts and I dont think it went as smoothly as it should have done. I had to reinstall the latest version of OC and my template whit is Proshop3. I tried to reinstate all my info and products from the backup but all I get is a blank screen. Has anyone got any ideas what is wrong or why it hasnt worked. I only have about 30 items or so in the shop so it isnt the end of the earth to do everything over again, but it would be nice to be able to restore it all again.

I am still having problems with this.
The proslider from the Proshop template stopped working earlier so I decided to reinstall from Softaculous.
I went on to the admin/backup and tried to reinstate my previous database to save me having to write up all my products again!!! However this didnt work and I dont know why?
I have had to create a new database as you are not allowed to use the one created from the previous installation.
I deleted the database from the soft. installation with the hope that It would revert to the previous one used.
Is there a method of linking opencart to a previously used database when using an installation by soft, or would it have to be manually installed. I know if I have to manually install it I could use the previously used database details, but would this work.
Are there any secrets or tips out there for restoring from a back up. Do I have to install all the templates first before I restore?
Sorry for all the questions but I cant find an idiots guide to this in the support documentation

Cheers

I would avoid softaculous at all costs. Can you go to the site for proshop and download the files to then upload to your server? As far as your database, you can go into phpmyadmin and export everything into a single file and then import it into your new database. It's simple. If you need more help, send an email to support@cwswebsitedesign.com

Thanks guys for your helpful replies. I had already reinstalled OC and manually loaded up my products by the time you posted DL. At least I know the settings now for backing up my database and I have done it properly.
Once again many thanks.
