Hi Guys, I'm looking to create a custom tshirt website where a customer can type the text in a textfield/textarea and the text is shown on the image.

The only thing I have found is http://www.product-attribute-pictures.c ... -tofi.html which I can't find on the extensions page so a bit sceptical about it.

Anyone know of an extension or a good way to do this?

Thanks

This looks promising, have you used this yourself? If so how did you get along with it?

looks too complicated, should be easier to use some sort of jquery to reposition the text option field on the product image, and perhaps render the resulting image to the order.

Or have seperate text option fields that are fixed locations on the product image based on sort order.

Hello,

I need the exact same thing, but for Business Cards ... Would love to see the Text Option copied over on the image to show to the client.

Anyway if you find something let me know, and if I find on my side I'll post here.

Thanks a lot

G.

Hi

I wrote the text overlay for images mod you refer to above and understand your concern that it isn't in the OpenCart extensions page. The main reason its not there is that as I understand it, the code for any extension in the extensions page must be open source and unencoded. Our mod is encoded using Ioncube in order to protect it from being copied as it's a niche product we consider to be relatively high value. Therefore we are not allowed to put it on the extensions page.

We would also have to charge more in order to cover the cost of having it on the extensions page, but this is a secondary consideration to keeping the code safe and maintainable directly by ourselves.

Kind regards

Hi WackyRacer,

I have been working with the development team at OpenTshirts and there are a few new exciting things on the horizon for that program. Right now it's a Stand Alone product with a full design studio. It comes with a Text feature that you are looking for and they also offer Art Packs you can buy and upload. It was built utilizing the OpenCart platform, so it functions on the admin side just like OpenCart.

First off, the program is Free and Open Source. It is quite dynamic and very involved when it comes to creating a tshirt design, whether it be Text Only or includes Graphics and Artwork. The New thing that is going to be available soon (around the first of the year) is a Module Form of the program. This way you only have one Database of product and your customer can go from Product Page to Design Studio with one click. The other features of the program are that if you do Direct To Garment (DTG) printing or cut vinyl or business cards, that this will work for you. Their intentions is to make this a Full Graphics Printing program to cover all areas screen printers are involved in, in the industry.

OpenTshirts is in the process of Cleaning up their forums and reworking their site in anticipation of the release. Again, this is a Free Program and Open Source as it stands right now. You just install it in a separate directory in your sites root directory. Read up on the recommended server requirements and hosting companies. We experienced a lot of people trying to use "Free" hosting packages and Big Box hosting companies that just didn't have all the most recent software loaded on their servers. In other words, not enough horse power.

Now, the one thing that people have tried to say is, that the art packs are going to make up for it being free. Well, the art pack that they offer has over 2400 clipart pieces and 360 Design Idea Templates, all for Less than $250 It's mostly original, a lot of hand drawn, unique and modern clipart. Not stuff purchased and licensed from clipart sites like the big shops have. The guy who started this project has been in the Tshirt Graphics Design industry for 15 years or so and is considered the Guru of CorelDraw. He focuses his efforts towards the small shop owners so they can not only compete with the big guys but also excel in areas that they don't have time for.

Hope that helps.
