New product status is X

When I create new products, the status is a red X under when viewing the admin product list. The template products status are green checks, which apparently means the product creation is good. I have tried just about everything to create a new product with a green check status.

On the Data tab in Administration, there is a Status:
You need to set that to Enabled and save your product.

I don't understand, could precise where to validate a product pls ?

Just to help new users, in the product data tab just above where you set the price and weight is a drop down box for "status" that must be set to enabled.
