curl_setopt() has been disabled

Got this error message while trying to login into admin.

curl_setopt() has been disabled for security reasons in /public_html/admin/model/localisation/currency.php on line 95
I cannot acces php.ini of the server, and admin wrote me that he can disable it. Is there any way to override this by .htaccess, or maybe by some changes in the OpenCart code (file mentioned in error message maybe)?

Ask your host to allow it or Get a new host. cUrl is widely popular and needed for lots of communication protocols and there is no reason they need to block it.
