I am using ver: 1.5.1.3
When you click on an item from the menu it takes you to the sales page with an add to cart button
but no space to add to the total before going to the cart.
But, when you are on that sales page you can click "compare" and get to a similar sales page for that item
with the space for adding to the quanity.

how do I change the menu to go where I want.
the first link is a category page and the second is a product page. the first link will show everything in that category, you just happen to only have 1 product in that category.

I'm not sure if I am understanding correctly but I think the product in my signature called "Profitable Portal Pages" will solve your problem.
My product removes the Add to Cart button when you are on a category page and instead takes you directly to the product page itself which is more intuitive than the way it's handled now. Take a look at the images on that page to see if it's what you need.

what we are looking for.
A page with the option to add multiplr items when clicking add to cart.
We just want to go directly to that page from the dropdown menu and skip the
one it goes to now.
