I'm having a problem with the slideshow not loading when the site is loaded for the very first time on the browser, everything underneath the slideshow is pushed up and filling the empty space of the slideshow area. However, the "Next" link to switch between the slideshow images is still visible.
300KB for a banner image doesn't seem too bad to me, is this too much (I couldn't go any lower without making the image quality look like trash)?
opencart version 1.5.2.1
Any help will be appreciated..
After the page has been loaded for the first time, if I click the home logo then the slideshow loads up properly.
I had a couple of stock images in the testing phase of the website and they were loading fine, the only difference is that the images I'm using now are a bit larger in file size (300kb) vs the testing ones I had before (<100KB).300KB for a banner image doesn't seem too bad to me, is this too much (I couldn't go any lower without making the image quality look like trash)?

I could understand if it took long to load. But the fact that the slideshow is collapsed and all of the content from below is pushed into its spot is what bothers me.
What I'm saying is that on first visits the slides images don't show up, after the first visit it will show up perfectly (because the images are cached by the web browser).
Not sure if you were able to replicate it on the first visit to my site but it looks just like the first screen shot I posted.
Wondering if there's any solution to this?..

Thanks for trying to help. It doesn't appear to be a common problem based on the search results. I think I will re-install the stock files and scripts for the slideshow, even though I didn't make any changes to them (to my knowledge).
In the mean time the banner mode works fine, I just have to fix them from loading both images over top of one another in the start. I have come across threads for that problem so I hope there'll be a fix for that.

I am having the same problem with the slideshow for quite awhile as well. On older versions of Opencart and on the latest one Version 1.5.6.1. I have this problem with both Firefox and Chrome. On Chrome you can only see the little circle that is normally visible at the bottom of the images if the slideshow is loaded completely, on Firefox I see a small sliver of the image and those circles. If I refresh then the slideshow loads correctly, I have been searching what seems like years to a solution but have never found one.
I have changed permissions on the image and image cache folders , my images are the same size as the demo image ( 980 x 280 Pixels ), I have upgraded Opencart , done fresh installs of Opencart, cleared caches ( both browser, and server side ) , used the stock theme and a custom theme based off of the stock theme, optimized the jpeg files, correctly inputted data and dimensions to system/design/banner and then to extensions/module/slideshow, used jpeg files with no spaces in the file name, plus other "solutions" that I can not remeber right now and that did not work anyways.
I know refreshing the page will force the slideshow to load correctly , but visitors are not going to know this. I wish I could find a solution to this problem.
