We have a new site and are in the process of creating our product listings within opencart.
Hosting with Arvixe.
Opencart version 1.5.3.1 (original install)
No plugins or extensions
Default theme
Google Chrome browser
Last week we started not being able to connect with our website after some time of updating our product listings. We found out it was just us not being able to connect and was able to find out from Arvixe that we were experiencing temporary IP bans because the server is experiencing too many concurrent connections from our IP. They would remove the ban and we could get back to updating the site but that wouldn't last very long. Banned again.... banned removed... banned again... banned removed and on and on. We finally realized that we would lose connection when trying to upload images to new product listings.
Today I spoke with Arvixe support and they updated my support ticket with the following statement... "there is clearly something in your scripting causing connections not to properly close, thus the server detecting too many concurrent connections from your IP. Please try reinstalling the newest OpenCart update." Here is another follow up reply from support... "It is highly recommended that you do reinstall the update, as this is a fairly default install of OpenCart that you currently have. There is obviously something wrong with the current install not closing out connections properly, and since you do not have any custom themes or plugins it is likely with the install itself."
Is this indeed an opencart scripting issue or something else? I wanted to hopefully get a second opinion before I reinstall opencart. If I need to go ahead and reinstall how should I insure I don't lose all our product listing data? Over 80 products already created.
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
Can't help you with the IP ban problem but a few days ago I completely done a fresh install of my site I have 200+ products on the site so not wanting to lose products but wanting to do a clean install after having done 2 upgrade installs from v1.5.1.3 to 1.5.3.1 I logged into Cpanel then went into PhpMyadmin and exported the whole database into a sql file then I dumped the whole opencart database deleted everything in Public_Html re-uploaded the install files run the install file... bingo new fresh install.. now go back into CPanel PhpMyadmin empty newly created opencart database import your exported database....bingo it worked AND all my details were the same including admin login, customers/ purchases the works.
BUT first backup the public_html folder if you have an older version say 1.5.1.3 uninstall any mods that you have installed as it will cause possible login problems..
Hope this helps.
Regards
Eddie

The solution will be, contact your host, ask them to whitelist your IP. That will stop the auto ban.

I did speak with Arvixe about this and they said they don't whitelist IP's. Besides, this would just treat the symptom and not the cause.
