It would be a nice if upon uploading and resizing, OC uses the Yahoo! SmushIt service to optimize product images.

It uses the same GD library. I don't see how it could speed up what OC already uses. They call it a different name for perks.

Try downloading an image from your OC shop. Upload it to smush.it

You will find that smush.it's output is 10-20% lighter.

Yes, I saved 5 kB's. I agree, it's nice. Like I said, Open Cart needs to tweak what they have. It's same GD library.

I can post here exactly what's needed for the lossless compression. But I suspect it might be more work than simply taking files through the smush.it system
