Weight-based shipping allows setting of shipping rates by geo zone.
Can a similar thing be possible for Free Shipping module? So, for my home country, I could start free shipping at EUR 20. For rest of Europe, I could ship for free at EUR 50 and for rest of the world at EUR 100.
Also, the ability to specify the required total currency. e.g.
For UK, free shipping starts at GBP 20
For Euro-zone, free shipping starts at EUR 50
For USA, free shipping starts at USD 100
Such a feature would be very useful.

Free Shipping Plus offers a wealth of options, which is why it might seem complicated at first glance. From your description, you don't need all it offers, but could get away with use Total-Based Shipping.
You would set up a rate for each geo zone, with cost brackets like:
Geo Zone: UK
From: 0, To: 20, Charge: (your shipping cost)
From: 20, To: 99999, Charge: 0

Looks good at first glance. Does it allow multiple currencies, i.e. specifying the total slabs for UK in GBP, for Germany in EUR, for US in USD, etc?

Yes, you can select the currency or currencies for each rate you create, and whether you want to automatically convert them using your currency rates. If you select GBP and EUR for a rate that charges 20.00, for example, it would charge £20.00 when the customer has GBP selected and €20.00 when the customer has EUR selected. Or you can just create a different rate for each currency, and it will only be available when that currency is selected.
