Installation wont work

Oops I did not notice the date on the post. 
I'm still getting an error on install though outlined here

Hello, if you noticed this error was back in January, are you receiving these errors with the latest version?

I tried putting in the IP address instead of "localhost"

Then I made it to Step 3.  NOw I'm stuck with and Admin and password that I never created.

I usually use Simplescripts, but this option is NOT offered with Network Solutions - where this new client hosts his site.

Now I'm stuck.

kind of an old thread...  but ok --  what version of php/apache  url?  more info is realy needed

Hi, I'm having the same problem, of getting the error message

"Error: Could not connect to the database please make sure the database server, username and password is correct!"

when entering my database information.  I looked at the install.ini file but couldn't figure out what you changed to make yours work.  I guess first of all I should clarify, is my database host "localhost" or "yarniapdx.com"? (that is the domain where my site is located).  Anyway, I know the database name and password that I'm entering are correct, and I've tried both "yarniapdx" and "yarniapdx@localhost" as the username...basically I've tried every permutation I can think of and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Initially I had the files in a subdirectory called /onlineShop/ so they wouldn't get mixed up with my other files in case I decided not to go this route, but then tried it with them all in the main root directory and it still won't work...

Could you explain specifically what you changed to make it work, and If I'm on the right track here?
