OpenCart seems to be the only popular cart that doesn't have a well-established gift registry module. These are a common feature. I have searched the forums and can find other mentions indicating strong market demand, and a request in the OC roadmap thread, but haven't found any real progress.

Does any one have any leads? I'm willing to buy a commercial extension, pay for development, or even sponsor the development of something to contribute to the main opencart. (note: our Client cart is running 1.5.1.3). We're pretty creative + flexible with terms, as long as a gift registry comes out of it.

To be clear about what I'm asking:
  • Registered user can create a gift registry for a given event + add or remove products to it, as well as send email invites to the registry (via encoded URL)
  • Friends of registry owner can look up the registry and buy products off of it (as if its a checklist) to gift to the registry owner.
  • Registry owner + any friends can see status of registry in real time
The 3DCart documentation essentially serves as a spec for a workable gift registry that can be easily adapted to OpenCart. The existence of a good registry will also likely help the OpenCart community as the lack of such a module is undoubtedly impacting the popularity/adoption-rate of OC vs competing options.

The following link is to a PDF that's attached to the 3D Cart Knowledgebase, and covers the 3DCart gift registry use-cases in clear detail:

Hi there,

We have developed this for a client for 1.4.9, and we are looking at converting this into a extension to sell shortly. I'll send you a PM when we release it.

Regards,

Any ideas of a rough timeline? If its too far into the future, we will explore other options. We're still looking for developers.

So far everyone's too busy in the near-term to take on the job, although everybody seems to admit it is intriguing and they agree its valuable.

Hey,

It's not on our urgent list, but I can quote you a price to have this developed immediately for you. PM if you are interested.

It does the following, if you were wondering:

-Allows the customer to create a registry (Only one registry can exist at any time per customer)
-Customer can set name and description of registry
-Customer will be presented with a unique URL to show products in a list, with product, price, quantity required, and add to cart button
-Quantity is dynamic - so if the customer sets 2 units as the quantity they want, and someone has already purchased 1, it will only show 1 needing to be purchased.
-Customer can email the registry link to emails from their account page, or distribute manually by facebook/txt/email/on an invite

I had a look at the link, and it doesn't do the following:
-Password protects the registry - you're given a uniqie URL (like http://url.com/gift_registry/178yji13)
-Show a list of registry's to the public
-Allow to ship directly to list owner

If interested, please PM me.

Thanks

Hey,

@webengage
Exaclty the same needed here and your extension seems to do the job. Looking at all the user requiring such an extension, I think you should consider to upgrade it to 1.5.x as soon as possible :-) Guess il will be valuable.

Anyway could you PM me the price to get it adapted to 1.5.x?

Ok guys, will get this converted ASAP. Will hopefully have a release mid-next week.

Will probably sell the module for $15-25USD - depends on how long it takes us to port it across.

Thanks

This is something that is "missing" so true I see this in almost every cart out there. It is also very important tool to keep costumers and guest coming back to your store, any idea if this was ever done or created? I have searched everywhere and nothing. :(

I'm working on it right now. Shouldn't be too much longer.

I've done one, few more features to add in the future but all the basics are there:
