opencart is unable to send email

my open cart installation is unable to send any emails

please recommend which settings should i check

well, do a search, many are having this issue. Which host are you using?

I experience the same issue. But I follow what Samera Jayasekara instruction in his blog.

Select Mail Protocol: SMTP
SMTP Host: ssl://smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Username: your gmail username
SMTP Password: your gmail password
SMTP Port: 465
SMTP Timeout: 5

It did not work. Then I changed the port to:

SMTP Port: 587

It works!

it depends usually. the port number depend on the mail server
