Cannot access tabs externally

Hello...

I am running OC 1.5.1.3...

Individual Tabs (such as those on the Product Pages within the OC Demo site) cannot be directly accessed via a url + hash tag. I would really like to be able to access individual tabs via an href, but it just does not work. I have seen some forum discussion on the matter, but all "fixes" appear to be quick hacks at best -- nothing I am comfortable implementing.

In the past on other websites, I have used the tabs functionality within jQuery Tools very successfully. jQuery Tools Tabs enable direct access via hash tag and more. In my OC site, I am already using other parts of jQuery Tools, so I thought I would implement jQuery Tools tabs to address the problem. I copied a vanilla setup into an information page, put the vanilla css in place, put the vanilla js call in place. Unfortunately, I just can't get it to work. It is making me think that the problem is within OC with the ?route url's etc. (I am using one of the commercial seo tools that provides standard urls on information pages).

I am not actually looking for anyone to review my code... I am looking to see if anyone else sees this as a problem... and how have they addressed it?

Also: Is replacing/repairing the Tabs functionality on the 1.6 roadmap?
