Was considering using opencart as an offline ordering facility until project demands real time payment.
We want to take advantage of stock/products/quantites etc but produce an invoice for an order that can be sent to customer and admin WITHOUT taking payment. I know it sounds abit weird - its a cart right? - but is this possible?

Ican imagine some issues with this - as it all hinges on the process of invoice generation and sending. Some carts do it after payment, some do it before.

Anyone with experience of this I'd ove to hear from you :)

that can be done using a payment method like bank transfer or cash on delivery or something similar (extensions that dont charge the customer on order). Then the customer would receive the order confirmation email as usual, or you can modify it to send a proper invoice from the start. However is possible to do what you are thinking, its not necessary to use online payment processing.

You could create your own Payment Method eg: 'Account', by copying the 'Cash on Delivery' to 'Account'. There is a tutorial on here somewhere in the forum, that guides you to create 'Cash on Pickup'.

So have been using Bill ME updated and testing:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on_id=4736

Apart from the incorrect status assignment [you get cancelled for an order which seems wrong - I am sure I can fix that] it seems effective. Thanks for steering me

But as always I have realized this only part of the equation :)

The reason we wanted offline orders was because there isn't a shipping module that supports the complexity of routes and wild variations in price for the international deliveries of these products. [They are not arms/weapons honest!]
Because the customer cant handle this wild variation each shipping cost is handled offline for the best quote.

So imagine we have a shipping quote for the order. When I login to open cart there seems to be no way to edit an order. What we need is a way of adding the manual shipping price and sending/producing an invoice.

The code looks very MVC which is nice but does any one have any opinions on this bit of our puzzle?
Is this a very unusual scenario?

cheers
