problem switching template theme

I am testing different templates/themes with my cart and it seems that only one will show even when I switch to another template in admin save to a new template. I have 3 different templates/themes in my /htdocs/shop/catalog/view/theme/xxxxxx. I just ran into this today when I wanted to try a different template.....any help would be great

ok basically what has happen is I can only use 1 template name where in 1.30 I had 3 templates on my system and if I decide to change the look for the day I would just click one of the other templates, for example I have 3 templates default , default_black-night1, silverscreen. I was use default_black-night1 most of the time in 1.30 and was able to change them on the fly in the admin now I upgraded to 1.3.2 I can't. The default_black-night1 is the only one that saves in the admin settings even if I change it to another template and save. I go back to admin and its back to default_black-night1 for the template. I hope I explained the problem better now

I figured it out after Daniel said it was most likely a file permission which it was. I got it working
