Inventory control by options - any plans for core ?

I know the inventory-by-option question has been asked around but I was wondering if there are any plans to build such a feature into the core anytime soon?

I gotta create some stuff that will be based on inventory-by-option so wondering what the plans are for the core.

I know of some of the extensions that kinda do this but would love something native
