Opencart wont run on PHP version 5.2.10

My new host as informed me that Opencart wont run on their servers which run PHP version 5.2.10, is this right?

They said Opencart wants to run PHP 5.1.1? Is there an easy way to fix this issue? Or is it even an issue?

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

It will run on anything above PHP 5.1.

Although there are some problems with PHP 5.3, that will be fixed in the next release.

I don't know where your host got there information but they are lying to you and probably don't have the PHP skill to correctly advise you on these matters.

Well they got it working but this was his next reply:

'Thanks for getting back to me. We simultaneously run php4.4.9 and php5.2.10 on our servers. Your package was running in php4 mode, so I made the change over for you. This allows customers to run older applications as well as new (if you have a look in your home directory you will see that there is a .htaccess file, this contains the directive to use php5).'

So he is saying that Opencart is running on php4.4.9?

hes saying that your server was running php4!!

opencart requires php 5.1 and greater! as it says in the documentation!!!

so the problem was your host!

Ah ok cool, I did mention to him that I doubted it would be Opencarts issue as it was the latest version etc.
