Hi,

SKU (single kimbled unit) is a unique product code entered by the store / cart owner to identify the product using their own product reference. If used this should be shown when ever a product is displayed. The keyword search should incorporate this.

The benefits of this are:
1. That the correct item is picked and shipped
2. The customer has a unique reference when doing a query with the owner
3. Re-orders of stock are more accurate
4. This could then be used by the user to search for a product via the quick find / keyword search.
5. When taking orders via phone the customer or the owner could be directed to a product via the SKU
6. This would be especially useful for owner with a large number of products (with options).

Phil.

ya model is sku for me.... but for products with actual model numbers.... like LCD TV K19XSS, that might not be the sku you have for cataloging, so it might be useful to have both.

Not to mention...the model number apparently can not be searched by clients. They would have to know the name. Speaking about this, does anybody have any code to add to catalog->controller->product->search.php to have it include the model number as a keyword search?
