Hi guys,

I'm having some real problems getting my SEO URLs to work.

I have ensured the apache module mod-rewrite is installed.

I have re-named the .htaccess.txt to .htaccess.

My opencart installation is not stored in a sub-directory but is installed in /httpdocs

When I enable the SEO URL the URLS change but whenever I try accessing a page or product I get "The page you requested cannot be found!" I'm not sure why this is happening as my About Us page seems to function correctly with the new SEO URL. I have hundreds of products on the site so re-adding them is not really an option. I assume there is an error in my .htacess file but I don't know what it is.

Its a problem which is really bugging me, I am tempted to buy a extension but I'm worried that I will run into the same problems as I assume it requires similar things to be activated to work?

I have posted the contens of my .htaccess file to see if the problem is obvious.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Sam
# 1.To use URL Alias you need to be running apache with mod_rewrite enabled.

# 2. In your opencart directory rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess.

### Additional Settings that may need to be enabled for some servers
### Uncomment the commands by removing the # sign in front of it.
### If you get an "Internal Server Error 500" after enabling any of the following settings, restore the # as this means your host doesn't allow that.

# 1. If your cart only allows you to add one item at a time, it is possible register_globals is on. This may work to disable it:
# php_flag register_globals off

# 2. If your cart has magic quotes enabled, This may work to disable it:
# php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off

# 3. Set max upload file size. Most hosts will limit this and not allow it to be overridden but you can try
# php_value upload_max_filesize 999M

# 4. set max post size. uncomment this line if you have a lot of product options or are getting errors where forms are not saving all fields
# php_value post_max_size 999M

# 5. set max time script can take. uncomment this line if you have a lot of product options or are getting errors where forms are not saving all fields
# php_value max_execution_time 200

# 6. set max time for input to be recieved. Uncomment this line if you have a lot of product options or are getting errors where forms are not saving all fields
# php_value max_input_time 200

thanks for the fast response, unfortunately that does not work, I was an idiot and placed a fullstop at the end of the sentence.

file is already named as .htaccess

I feel like such a fool. I found the problem. basically my clients site sells Bang & Olufsen speakers. The SEO URL does NOT like the alien character "&". removing "&" fixes the problem

glad you solved it

now you have to take out the spaces in the seo keyword
the url look like this

/bang%20&%20olufsen%20remote%20control/BeoLink%201000

replace the spaces with _

Thanks for the advice, looks much nicer. sound-affair.com is my site. Using the _ also allows the & to be read correctly.
