PayPal Website Standard Integration Help Needed

Hi there,
I'm really struggling here!! I feel like i'm going round in circles and getting nowhere.
I have followed the steps in the help documentation for setting up Paypal standard, (which i assume is the same as Paypal website standard), but it asks for a return URL. Is this just my website address, or a specific page within my website?
I've generated the token - i think and pasted that in.
There are also lots of settings with drop down boxes, all set as canceled as standard. Do i leave these as they are or do i have to change them.
If i turn on auto return, it says i have to have a page with a message on it for my customers. Where do i find this page, or how do i create it.
I have no development experience and i'm working on a £0 budget!
Sandbox mode.
I tried testing my cart, but i can't workout how to get this working!
What are API's?
Do i need them?
I could really do with an idiots guide for all of the above, which for all my looking through Paypal and the internet i've not been able to find yet.
Any help or pointing in the direction of help would be greatly welcomed

Your return URL would be the URL of your website.

Adjust your order status settings to the appropriate settings. Canceled > Canceled, Pending > Pending, etc.

The page which notifies your customers of the order status is the default page customers will redirected to after the payment processing.

I would ignore the API's until you get the rest working.

I suggest you follow the procedure that was given to you by opencart addons. With that you should get going. Most of the pay master interface are secured. So that is why you may be experiencing abnormality.

I am trying to use PayPal Standard, but when I click Install and after Edit browser open the empty white page and nothing more. It just send me to /admin/index.php?route=payment/pp_standard&token=562652943394af0d0222fb34df494a23
