I'm about to pull my hair out. I live in California. I *thought* I had my cart set up to only charge taxes to California residents and to calculate shipping for every state in the US. Well, someone in Texas wanted to buy one of my products. When she clicked "calculate shipping", she was given no options, and the cart updated to include California sales tax. I've disabled anything to do with taxes, just so the California sales tax won't be added, but, still, when I do a test run and say I'm in Texas and provide a Dallas zip code, I'm still not given any shipping options, even though I've got the USPS module enabled and it works if I say I'm in California. What gives? I'd appreciate any help. And, please, go easy on me with the tech speak. I'm totally self taught here. Thanks.

You just need to set up your geo zones correctly. It sounds like you'll need two geo zones. One that contains every state in the USA for your shipping modules, and another that only contains California for your tax module. Create these two geo zones and then assign the USA one to your shipping modules and then assign the California one to a tax rate.
