HI Guys, looking for a E-Commerce checklist to setting up an online store.

Ive managed to setup the OpenCart store running on localhost and everything is going ok.

Was wondering is there a checklist of things that are essential before going Live.

Im thinking along the lines of security, security certificates, merchant bank account (necessary?), accepting credit cards, paypal etc...

Is there a guide out there can can break this down into manageable areas for me to look at.

Thanks for taking the time to look and help me out on this one.

Cheers, Stuart

Hi Stuart,

There isn't a set list as requirements change from project to project.

Firstly you need to decide how you are going to accept payment. If you plan to use a payment gateway like Paypal then security in terms of payment is not an issue as the payment is taken away from your site under the gateways ssl certificate. It's then possible for the customer to return to your site, once the transaction is complete.

A merchant bank account is not necessary, depends on you budget and whether you can afford a percentage override by the gateway (about 3% of the total transaction). The Benefit is that it is free and fairly easy to implement.
