Calling External Images

Hello,

I have read thru the forum and have not seen exactly what I am looking for.

I want to build a store for lets say sunglasses and this store be the master store as far as product images goes. I then want to build additional sunglass stores. In these additional stores I want to be able to pull the images from the master store to work in the additional stores.

So if I have 15 sunglass stores I only want to have to upload the images one time to the master store, also in the 15 stores the owners of these stores need to be able to own there own product images that would be unique to their own store.

Any direction or a solution would be great. I have tried .htaccess with a Symlink. I have tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to work.

you could prob use multistores function to only upload images once, or you could change the image folder paths in your config.php and admin/config.php to point to the image folder on the master site.

but the tricky part is each store owning their own images. This would require a serious modification, at a price.

Thanks, yeah would work if i did not want each site to be able to add their own individual images, was thinking to write something that would check if the image was there if now goto the master database and pull the image. So if a person did upload a product image it would pull form the image folder on their site if the image was not there it would pull from the master database but pulling this off is where I am stuck
