With all shipping extensions disabled, at checkout, I am getting FedEx as a shipping option.

If I remove fedex.php from Catalog->Model->Shipping, I get:

"Error: Could not load model shipping/fedex!"

I do not intend using the default FedEx module for shipping, why would this module be requested/imposed by OC...? I am using Q's FedEx which works fine.

I am using OC Version 1.4.8 - any ideas on how to get rid of the default fedex shipping method or why is this happening..? Even when I enable other shipping methods, the FedEx module still shows at checkout.

Thanks,
Gab.

sounds like you manually renamed the fedex.php_ to fedex.php in the admin/controller/shipping folder and then installed the unfinished fedex module that came with that older version of opencart. So now the system is trying to load it.

Uninstall the "fedex" module from the admin area and only use the Fedex (Q) which is named "fedex_wsdl.php"
If you deleted the admin/controller/shipping/fedex.php file then add it back from the 1.4.8 zip
Uninstall it
then redelete it again.

In later versions, code was added to auto-uninstall non-existent controllers, but 1.4.8 still has that issue

Q, thanks for replying.

The default FedEx does not appear in the admin area at all (I forgot to mention that in my first post).

Indeed, you're right - previously I have renamed fedex.php_ to fedex.php without using "Uninstall" in admin area for that module (BIG mistake, it turns out, but yes I forgot to do that).

I've just restored all the default FedEx files from the original OC 1.4.8 and the default FedEx module it's still not available in the admin area (in order to perform an uninstall).

Looking inside the database, I can see the FedEx entries for the default module:

I am thinking to backup the database, and than try deleting those entries to see if this issue goes away...

Thanks,
Gab.

OK, I have just deleted all the FedEx entries inside the database, and that did the trick - the default FedEx it's gone from the checkout page. Still not available in admin (strange..), but gone anyway.

Q, thanks a lot for helping with this! This will be a lesson - no deleting or renaming of files that are belonging to modules that are currently installed.

Thanks again,
Gab.
