Looking for a developer to work with on a regular basis, but the first thing I need quite urgent is a filtering module for OC1.5
Need a module on the left column that lists set categories as drop-downs like seen here:

so if I select 3/11 criteria or whatever, I get a list of wines falling under that criteria. Hope this makes sense..
Anyways, my question is if anyone knows a module that is out there so I can go buy it, or can someone develop it and how much would it cost?
An maybe someone has a better idea how to achieve this rather than with categories. Perhaps using attributes?

I'm also looking for something similar, e.g. the ability to filter by attributes, or faceted search, or whatever it's normally called. I'd certainly be willing to pay for something that works. Does anyone know of anything like this?
Lowe's does it very well, where you can click to add or remove multiple attributes, even attributes in the same "group" like multiple price options, etc.

But Best Buy also does it pretty well, but not as fancy as the others because you can only choose one price range, etc. The price range options disappear as soon as you click on one. But still pretty good.

I had a module like that for 1.4.x, and I will be porting it over to 1.5, but I've got alot going on right now. I imagine it'll be at least a week maybe two before I can get it done. I think you'll find that it will take a while before all the modules get upgraded. It's quite a big change from 1.4.x to 1.5.x and it's only been about a week since the release.

I know you must be terribly busy, but can you please let me know how much would this module have to be modified to work with OC1.5. I have my own developer who can probably do the job, just need to know how much it will cost me. Is it a lot of work to port it to 1.5 ? I need the site ready by the end of the week, hence the urgency.

yes it's a lot of work. Mine is written to use my product extra fields module which has been replaced by the built in affiliates system. Also the entire admin section has to be rewritten since everything for the admin changed with the new layout system. In addition there were some scaling issues with my module that I have to workout for the 1.5 version, and I am going to look at adding support for options.

Ok, So this means your module desnt use the categories to filter which is what I need.
All products are added to multiple categories. I need to be able to show all products that are added to a certain category, but also need to be able to show products that are added to say 4 categories.
Whatever the user wants to see, they can see it. E.g If I selected argentina, red wines, 14%, malbec - then I would see all products attached to these 4 categories.
Xsecrets - If this is not how your module works, how does it work. Maybe you have a better work around and I should wait for you to port it.

however no my mod never did allow you to do multiple categories. It did allow for multiple tags and extra fields.

I was gonna create categories for price range and the other stuff as I thought this would be the easiest way forward, but if we could combine manufacturer + price + attributes then the possibilities are endless I suppose as You can create attributes as many as you want really.

We have managed to build our own. We had specific requirements like mixing the manufacturer, attributes, categories, and price range on the filter so its not exactly a module that anyone can use, but perhaps we can modify it for you.. PM

Anywho.
A product filter (Cherry-Picker) is exactly what I need.
I'm more than happy to pay for this kind of functionality in OC but cant see a mod anywhere.

I'm also interested in this mod/module. I'm building a website for spareparts of motorbikes and i need a page where the user kan search by brand of the bike, model of the bike, year of the bike and then see all available products.
This doesn't work with categories.

There is another mod out there that will do what you want sickboy it needs altering to suits needs but it does what you want.
