hey everyone. I have just recently downloaded opencart and have managed to install all files on to my server.
I have 2 error messages coming up which is preventing me from fully installingt he opencart:
PHP Version: 4.4.2 5.0+ Error
Register Globals: On Off Error
Would anyone be able to help me configure these last 2 points so i am able to set up open cart on my website?
I know that the 'Register Globals' part needs to be edited via the 'install/index.php' [line 23], but not sure how to go about doing it!!
I am clearly running PHP.4.4.2 also and need to be on V5+ - but how do i upgrade or ammend this??
hope somone is able to help??
Thanks,
QB

If you're with a shared host then you may just need to drop them a support ticket about it.
I had the same issue, but when i got the hosting I asked them to move me onto a PHP5 server and if they could disable Register Globals.
They did it right away and it installed cleanly.
If you have your own dedicated hosting then you should be able to get the latest PHP down from www.PHP.net and then edit the PHP.ini to change the Register Globals.
good luck mate

Hi QB,
I know a few of the guys on here run hosting themselves, so I don't want to tread on anyone's toes.. but personally i'm using a UK company called EUKHosts (http://www.eukhost.com/packages.php on one of their Shared Gold packages).
I did have to mention to them that I need to be on PHP5 server and to disable the Register Globals for me, but that took under 12 hours to do so that was fine for me.
Seems to be pretty fast so far and a half decent price.
I did run a test server on a Media Temple shared Grid Server account and that did run quite slow for me.
As I say, just my experience.
Hope that helps
Cheers

Thanks Carlo,
That looks like a good company. I will have a read over their stuff!
*Seperate subject totall - Are you any good with CSS??! (its the cross browser stuff that does my head in - like it will look good in ie6 & 7 but not in Mozilla, especially if using container Divs).

this is a site i'm doing now, but the right and left nav colums seem to overlap the central column and hence push the footer links all over the place!
Any ideas??
Cheers

My current hosting provider said he can refund me the years fee. How much is your fee for 1yr hosting?
I will need to basically build the opencart section with cms for them to upload / edit and manage their furniture inventory.
let me know and we can sort something out asap.
cheers

i added the clear:both; to the #footer DIV and it does seperate out the footer from the left & right Navs, but if you look at the site now, it seems to look odd in Firefox!

i've seen alot of these types of issues when setting up div layouts. do some research on containing floating divs. usually (for me) these problems take a bit of trial and error because it depends heavily on the other css around it, and are browser dependent.
just realized this is not an opencart site
good luck!
