How to change the menu bar color from red to any color?

Hi,

I would like to modify the color of the main menu bar to match the one of my site design. What do I have to change in what php or CSS file??
Better,I would like to add some rollover buttons (the same than on my site) as menu in place of the big red bar , is it possible? if yes where to insert them?

The menu bar image can be found in catalog/view/theme/default/image the image is called header.png

Look for it in the stylesheet.css to make any mods etc...
