I would like to compliment open cart on such a fine product and support community.

I have struggled with a number of ecom solutions: prestashop, 3dcart, zen cart, and cubecart.

The systems were always buggy, and trying to get support was a nightmare. I gave up on each of those four after spending time with each one trying to get my shop in order using thier solution.

I found open cart by accident - it was mentioned on the prestashop forums. After installing it, I found it to be more stable, and easier to use than any other. When I needed support, I got answers right away and never felt left alone. None of the others were able to do that.

Great job open cart team. You folks have a winning solution - and Im telling every webstore owner I know about it.

Good to hear you're happy, mmreed. ..

I arrived at Opencart via a similar route. Cubecart in particular was OK (at the time), but available programmers were hard to find and might (or might not) help. I understood their reasons - but a shop owner can't run software on that basis.

At Opencart, we not only have great software, but great developers too. A winning combination.

Did you even read his post? Or only the title of the thread...

He's basically complementing OpenCart, which i'm sure Daniel doesn't mind if there are a million of those topics spread across the forum.

I have to agree with this, I worked with Magento before OpenCart but it had a couple of problems, mostly it was slow and the folder structure seemed a bit complex to me. So I reviewed a few of the Open Source carts and found OpenCart to be my favourite. The review can be seen here:

Checking out there forums I was surprised to hear there was a mass exodus of OpenCart users when multicart was added. Somehow I missed OpenCart being Totally Ruined Forever(TM).

I have to disagree a bit about Cubecart (v3) as I have used it for 8 years on my stores (and am a moderator of their forums). It's very easy to customize and I would still recommend it for a stand alone, single store (though since v5 has just come out and they will no longer have a free version, probably not as much as I would have). Their forums are very active - both for the core product and for programmers.

When Cubecart announced they would be stopping even security support for version 3 once v5 was released, I started actively looking at other options and installed just about every one I could find to give it a test run - zencart, magento, oscommerce, tomatocart and so many more I don't remember all their names. Magento is probably the closes to opencart, but their learning curve was horrible.

I have switched to Opencart as of about a month ago and am in the process of transitioning all my cubecart stores over. Primarily due to the multi-stores which I desperately needed, though the feature set is exactly what I needed with coupons, gift certificates, etc already built in that I previously had to use mods for. I recommended opencart to a friend who is also now transitioning from cubecart and loves oc.

No cart is perfect of course (opencart really needs more order management capabilities and I and a php guru friend are working on) and I'll be tweaking and doing mods myself eventually once I learn more about opencarts coding structure (it is a good deal different than cubecart even though both are php). But I really think if you want to run multiple stores, right now, opencart cannot be beat.

Running Opencart v3.0.3.9 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.

If you are not in a gigantic hurry you may want to wait for the next version where a rebuilt order editor will be returning to the core.

Thanks but I don't need to edit orders but to track what products I have in stock, what I need to order, generate purchase orders, etc. That's what I'm working on.
