Old products on homepage instead of latest products?

The homepage show the first added 6 products instead of last 6 products. How to fix it?
I also want to show new products for each categories as below on home page. Anyone can help?

Category 1

new product 1, new product 2, new product 3...

Category 2
----------------
new product a, new product b, new product c...

Category 3
----------------
new product I, new product II, new product III...

not just wanting the new products..

they want to show X number of products from all the categories...

This can be done..  would be a MOD for sure..

Hi, Daniel, hope the next version will list new products for each category seperately.

that would not be feesable for stores with large catalog or turn over of products..  there home page would just be too long and large

a better solution would be a New Products page where that could display
