3 new members are joining the development team.

Peter Russell (ex Joomla Core Team)
Shayne Bartlett (ex Joomla Core Team)
Waseem Sadiq (Bullet Proof Templates)

They have made major contributions to both mambo, joomla and are planing to promote OpenCart.

We are also planing to setup a stand in the Linux World Exibition in Oct or Nov.

@ Daniel, thank you for your kind words. We are looking forward to helping drive this fabulous open source project forward. Open Cart is a brilliant example of cool code from committed developers. The addition of Waseem and Shayne should take this project to new heights. Very exciting times, indeed.

@Daniel & Pete,

Thanks for the intro, I for one can't wait to get cracking on the project - OpenCart has to be a no-brainer for anyone looking for a simple yet powerful e-commerce engine. I'm honoured to be involved!

A development roadmap would be a good start, as would an indication of whether any of the modifications / contributions will be integrated into the core in 1.2+

Fantastic News. Great to hear Open Cart is going "out there" where it should be.

Can you keep it this way please. Please don't make it complicated like Virtuemart.
Please keep it simple and fast which is why I choose Open Cart.
Simple and fast. Uncomplicated yet powerful.
Please. Pretty please.

I agree with this.
This is the best news since the release of 1.x, but I hope it won't get down the route like Magento or Virtuemart who have a lot fluff built in that I can't remove easily when I don't need it.

Hi,
I Agree with nde and jty !
Opencart must stay easy to use, stable and easy to manage ..... Like now.
Not another complicated and unasable cart like Magento or similar !

Couldn't agree more, opencart is a lean mean shopping machine and its up to us to keep it that way and without bloat.

Good news!
Guys from Joomla core team can grow development of Opencart! ;)
I'am currently work on co-ordination of Hungarian translation for 1.X - hope, we (JUAH - see my profile!) can provide up-to-date translations for this nice shop.

Best regards
