hello guys i am new here and this my first post.now to my question can some tell me of any free tool that i can use to upload products to a new open cart installation.the csv file i got from my supplier has the following format infact i will just paste a copy of the email i got from them but not the file it self. i have never work with a csv before so i have know idear of what they meant by refresh the file daily to reflect changes

PART OF THE EMAIL I GOT FROM THEM

The file will give you product, product information, product image, category, stock availability, price and delivery costs. You can refresh the file daily to reflect price and stock changes.

The file should be refreshed everyday to reflect price changes and availability. The fields are divided by semi-colons and represent the following:

A – Category

B – Sub Category

C- Sub category

D- Internal reference code

E – Brand

F- Title/model

G- Description

H- Price after discount

I – Standard delivery costs

J – Price before discount

K – Picture

L – Availability

M – Volumetric weight

N – Weight

O – EAN Code

Please bear in mind that the prices are all VAT free.

You can use the free import/export tool (just do a search on the forums for that) or the not free module CSV Import PRO.

i would suggest that you have to get some coder to do that for you, any generic csv tool won't help you on this. bear in mind that your supplier provide you with x and you have to place them in y -- you need to write a script to execute such task.

CSV Import PRO is a generic CSV tool that will import any correctly CSV formatted file into OpenCart in the correct location in the database.

Last I checked it was only for products. Has that changed?

Products, categories, manufacturers. That hasn't changed if that's what you meant?

I haven't had too many people ask about importing shipping rates or other info. I made a customer import/export module from CSV but it gets fairly limited use. I had one person ask for an order export module.

Im only going by the screenshot. Didn't see category entry.. only product to category. Maybe there is more to it

It adds categories on the fly - put a product with a certain category in your CSV file, if the category doesn't exist in your store it will be created.

well thanks for your reply,i am not talking categories or manufacturers what i am talking about is only adding a certain amount or percentage to the price of the product and shipping cost.i.e i have a csv file with 100 products broken into 10 categories and each cost different amount.i want to be able to add say 10% to category 1 and 6% to category 2 and so on,or add 10% to all the 100 products which is the 10 categories.just exactly what the special module will do only this time the price before will not show at the front end and also you can do it to the entire products or some of the products at once.i hope i am making sense.
