You need to go back to my instruction page. I put the solution in the instructions. You have to modify one of the files.
Oh, are you saying that you made the adjustment to the file and it still doesn't work? Perhaps that's because my prices are so short.
You should go back into the file and try 20px instead of 15px, then try 25px if 20px doesn't work.

Hi lotus, lotus wrote:Any other suggestions or ideas on this?
Q. Would a 'Add to Cart' or 'Buy Now' button make a difference to making a buyer buy from the homepage? As I understand it, the general idea is to convert to sales with the least amount of user clicks.
Examples of some sites that do use it in Australia:
http://www.ht.com.au/home.hts
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/
Thoughts & comments welcome.
The websites you provided give me another option to change the button picture to a text.
But would you tell me how to get such the results? Thanks,

Daniel, it turns out that all my buttons were a little too fat. If the product has a rating (in stars), the stars cut into the bottom of the Add or Buy button. On the page where I give the instructions, the very last Buy button has been made 2 pixels thinner. Later today I will make them all thinner.daniel2008 wrote:Hi Purebeads,

Not sure if you referring to the 2 sties I posted here!
They are not mine but are sample sites I was referring to in my post to show how these sites are using the 'Buy Now' button.
By the way, the changes Purebeads have made to the 'Buy' button worked perfectly above the stars..thanks Purebeads.
Okay, I have now modified all the Add and Buy buttons on this page so that they will not conflict with the rating stars:

I used Paint Shop Pro 10 to make the buttons. Curiously, Paint Shop Pro 6 does small text more cleanly than PSP 10. At some point soon I will dredge up PSP 6 and redo the buttons to make them look a little neater. It is very hard to make such small text look good.

Hi Purebeads,
Please find the Add button I changed according to your suggetions. What I mean the product descriptions in http://www.ht.com.au
are more attractive. It use "Add to cart" instead an Add button.
How to do such the results if it also use OpenCart? Thanks,

Daniel, I have a few comments.
First, your Add button is a little longer than mine, and it is being cut off at the right. You need to change the pixels from about 15px to 17px. That should do it.
Personally, I believe that the buttons on my page have nicer-looking text, but you may not agree.
An Add button can be made which has red text. However, using the text "Add to Cart" will make the button very wide, and it may interfere with the columns to the left and right.
In addition, a red "Add to Cart" button will not match the other buttons in the cart, all of which are green.
Later I will make red buttons with the text "Add", "Buy" and "Add to Cart". It may take me a day or two. A lot of orders have come in, and I have to work on the orders.
But if you were able to make your own "Add" button, aren't you able to make a red one too?

Hi Purebeads,
I used your button picture and edited the text by PS, trying to be idential to the font in other green button
like "Search".
I don't prefer to the red Add button but the text link ("Add to cart"), when you move on its top, it will change
to its underline text!
Also I like the price format in red rectangle ( can the price change in picture automatically?), obviously enough
to attract the potential customers. Thanks,

I thought that I did use the same text as the other buttons! I guess I didn't. (The first "Add" button on my page was adapted from the "Add to Cart" buttons on the site.)
I don't think it's possible in OpenCart to make the text on the button underlined when your cursor is over it. If it is possible, it probably takes a lot of programming.
I don't know how to put the price in a red box.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. I'm going to bed now!
