The weight units doesn't have kg as default, one has to insert it manually.

When you add a product, the default state should be "Activated" IMHO.

What should I type in "Model" when I add a product?

my initial feeling was that the default state should be active as well, but i can see how this might not be the case for everyone. perhaps the default state is something that should be configurable in the shop options or config file?

"Model" is some kind of identifier for your product other than the name. For me, we have products with very similar names and descriptions, so the we use Model as a place to put a product code tied to each item. I believe this value will appear in a few places throughout the order process. It will help you identify exactly which product was purchased.
