Anyone can give me an idea of whether I should launch a site for a client on 1.493 or should I wait 2-3 days (max I can realistically wait) for 1.5 (again, assuming this is a final release not an RC). Anyone who can clarify this for me?
Much appreciated!
P.S. This is not about being a nag and saying "is it ready yet???" - it will be ready when it is.... I'm asking a question of "should I absolutely positively wait 3 days before I make any moves or not.."
Thanks!

well it seems like you've been following all the 1.5 threads, so you should know that whatever gets released here shortly whatever it is called will be quite untested and not suitable for a client site.MrSmileyJr wrote: Anyone can give me an idea of whether I should launch a site for a client on 1.493 or should I wait 2-3 days (max I can realistically wait) for 1.5 (again, assuming this is a final release not an RC). I'm curious, typically, how long does it take from release until stable. In other words, how long after 1.5 is released would you imagine it would take before we could call it stable?
Thanks!

I know that no one knows an exact answer. I wanted an approximation based on previous experience...

Based on previous experience, there will be no 1.5.0 "stable". Q will release bugfixes in the weeks after 1.5.0, and I'd say 1.5.0.3 would be the largely robust solutionMrSmileyJr wrote:I wanted an approximation based on previous experience...

The first update to 1.4.9.3 on the forums started on Dec 20th. Postings are still happening.
To be serious, it is really hard to consider when software goes from beta to release since release code always has something that needs to be fixed. XP never finalized even after 10 years.
I would imagine that since 1.4.9.x is mature code 1.5.0 should be relatively safe.
930sc ... because it is fun!
My wish is that all mods come with a vQmod XML file going forward so I never have to touch the core code again! At this point I can't even remember what all i've changed.
A vQmod is not gong to prevent that.opencartisalright wrote:Still gonna be a PITA to upgrade to 1.5 if you have a heavily modded store.

The only thing is that core code is not touched, vQmod's also have to be upgraded to correspond with code of new versions.

Have you made any progress? It all gets a bit comical now.ewverything is nearly done. it will be be any day now. I'm running around just fixing lots of little to get the next release ready.
Consider that it will take some time before the new OC 1.5.0 is sufficiently stable to be installed in a live environment.
The evaluation should beginn A.S.A.P
