image at other site

hi, thank's for this great and easy to use cart!

but i have question that i search in this forum and can't found the answer,
is that possible for items image, we use image that hosted at other site like at flickr or picasaweb? so we can reduce our server bandwidth.

You can change the path prefix, but no, at the moment there is no "offsite image hosting" feature.

I created a few different mods for this for another cart a while back
- first one parsed through the product description looking for that I set up. If the tag was then I would replace the main image with the image found at that other site
- second one added an optional field to the admin product area called "External Image:" and that overrides the main image if entered.

i think opencart should be supporting offsite image hosting because this features will can saving cost a lot for online small shop.

thank's for the idea, i also saw your contribution on image url link on other thread that maybe also useful for reducing bandwidth that we can host small size image at our server and linking it to other site for larger image size.

for your idea, i prefer the second one.
i will try to implement it because i still using OC 0.6.5 based on php4.

It is definitely something to consider, but it's not that important to the core functionality of the system.

Setting up such a feature isn't that simple either, there's lots of considerations such as cache and management.
