Hi, as per the title really. I have used byethost.com for years and have now added opencart, however, I can't have multicart. I can add a subdomain, but the os file path to it is fixed, so I can't get a multistore to work.

I may need as many as 5 stores by the time I'm done.

Thanks.

What sort of budget do you have in mind and what sort of hosting are you wanting? VPS would be my best suggestion, or even a dedicated if you're serious about the cart. Someone like heart internet or LCN are good choices for UK based servers

Thanks for the reply.
I want to keep the cost to a minimum (say £15 per month max).
I don't want to get involved in looking after my own server.
I want a clean set of carts.

I'll look them up, thanks.

I'd recommend a VPS with cpanel or something like that then to be honest, rackspace is more for a dedicated or cloud hosting service

I can help you with that. It seems that multi does not do well with sub-domains, or even add-on domains that do stand alone as web addresses, but are still subs under a common cpanel.

What you are going to need is a separate cpanel / domain for each cart, as I understand things.

Your 15 GBP is close to my quarterly pricing of $4.99 per month. I could set you up for that on my UK server, and you could pay in GBP, saving conversion fees.

I have dozens of OC users there now, you'll be right at home.

But you will have 5 cpanels and 5 logins, unless someone knows how to make add-on domains work for multi-store.

Add on domains work just fine with cpanel, as do subdomains

If that's the case, I can hook you up with a total of 6 domains with unlimited bandwidth, email account, databases, etc.

For about half your £15 budget. About £6.85 paid monthly for the 6, even less paid quarterly or annually.

I'll handle the setup of the add-ons if you wish, or you can do it through the single cpanel. FTP to them all through the main login, or set up separate FTP logins for each add-on. If all yours 100%, the single way is far easier, if you are sharing then you can give each their own FTP setup.
