Error after upgrading from 9.2 to 9.3

I got this error when trying guest checkout after upgrading from 9.2 to 9.3:

I commented the email check out as a temporary fix, but I figured I'd post it here. I couldn't find anything recent on "EMAIL_PATTERN" on the forums, sorry if this has been posted before.

be sure you updated the startup.php, tho the email pattern change was a 9.1 to 9.2 thing I think

This was originally a fresh 9.2 install. 9.2 to 9.3 was my first patch. Is it possible that the email pattern wasn't included in the full 9.2 install?

just to be sure, copy the system/startup.php from the 1.4.9.3 full zip and put it into your system folder
