I'd like to have options for selecting a few checkout currenices. (i.e, only enable 3 currenices which can be checked out among from 6 currenices)

I'd like to have options for enable shipping methods and payment methods by a few of customer groups.

I'd like to have options for upload customized thumbnail photos.

Firstly i thank Daniel and Qphoria for all the work.
The new opencart 1.5.0 seems to be great ,full of features (Wish List System,Reward Points System, Affliate System, Reorder System and much more)

But i must say that before going in for the much hyped big features, we should have the basic functionality and then move on to the advanced features. The system is lacking basic functionality options so what are the use of the new advanced features?

Eg: The product options needs to more advanced - options text fields(supposed in 1.5.0), customer file upload, assigning individual properties(weight etc) to the product options, quantity range(1-10,20-50) etc. These are the basic options needed in every cart though it be a gift shop, printing shop, any seller shop etc.

Modules like global mega options(text options, file upload), options plus, options price etc should be integrated into core system. Though u can say in return if u need these features then spend bucks. but these purchased modules are designed for default installation and are not plug and play in carts which have modified their code.

The clients need the basic functions in their cart systems. so to achieve this we have to modify the code on own.
Eg: to implement minimum quantity which my client needed in 1.3.4 version i did the follwing(a temporary code modification as client needed it and core cart do not have it):
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=10211

same way quantity discount(1.3.4)
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=24696

and now again stuck in setting the basic product options.
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=26702

I see many of the users on this forum who have suggested including of the above mentioned features.
Eg: if i do not have proper product options(which is basic in setting the any cart system), what will i do of a Affliate or a wish list System?

It is like we are creating a super sonic jet car but do not have road to run the car.

In my opinion there should be a poll to decide on the features to be added in the next releases of the cart.

Lastly please do not take my post in a wrong critising way. i have great respect for the cart developers. if u are not convinced with the above, please ignore the post.

Thanks.

like you said most all of this is coming to 1.5.0 maybe not the quantity price range on options, but then again I wouldn't call this basic functionality as I don't think I've seen one single cart system that has it.

why don't you take a few seconds to look at stuff before you start complaining. all the global mega options functions are going to be in 1.5.0 not sure about options plus/price.

now you are complaining about a very old version not having stuff that is already in the current version.
same way quantity discount(1.3.4)
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=24696
sorry if the table is not exactly the way you want it. The functionality is there if you want it displayed differently you can change it most people are happy with the way it's displayed.
and now again stuck in setting the basic product options.
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=26702
so you want to complain because you are trying to use two conflicting modules?

kinda hard not to take in a "critising" way. I think you would be very surprised with a poll if there was one. Yes product options would be high on the list, and it is being taken care of, but past that I think you would find that all these other advanced features would be much higher not everyone needs to have everything the exact way you do and would not conciser it basic functionality.

I think you guys should do a pass on making all of these functions easier to access.. Opencart is great cuz it has tons of stuff, but it takes so many clicks to get to everything!

SUG #1:For someone who edits products in the admin section a lot, we need to be able to edit product options on the fly.. I'd like to see a system that enables me to choose my most used product properties and have them ALL be displayed in the main Products admin page. I'd also like to be able to edit them right there. Click on it, edit. hit TAB on the keyboard, it goes to the next editable property. Let's make this easy and fast to use!!!
Let's figure out what field should be highlighted once the page loads/once a button is pressed, so it's easy to start typing right away....

SUG #2: I was just adding a bunch of shirts to my store and they all have the same Options: Size > S, M, L and XL.
I added them as Options instead of Option Values and have to re-do them all.. My point is, it would be nice to get a property from one product and duplicate that option to other products.

SUG #3: In the admin, I see that the related products is a dropdown now.. we can't select multiple products anymore? It's more complicated now IMO, it was way easier in 1.4.9

SUG #4: Adding images has always been a pain in the ass; the image uploader is slow; if you have folders, everytime you open the uploader, it defaults to the main folder.. so you have to wait even longer.. It would be nice to have an image uploader in the main product admin page and be able to drag&drop the images on each product. So you only have to open the uploader once.

The way you guys have set up everything is great, cuz it's SUPER organized, but... it's not user friendly for someone who needs to use these functions all the time. What do you think?

agreed that some other method is needed.

I am a VAT user. I need to have two prices in product administration.
1. Price inc. VAT
2. Price exc. VAT

When I insert one of them the other one should be calculated and filled automatically IN based on selected VAT class

Now I am on 1.4.9.3 and there is just one price (excluding VAT) but I have all my prices including VAT. So I need to recalculate all of them to be VAT excluded and select existing VAT class to get my already known prices including VAT.

Sorry for my english

Hi Daniel
There is many out there waiting for the new version of the OpenCart to be launched!
Do you have any possibility at all to tell when it might be ready for implementation?
Would be brilliant! Keep up the good work!

Not really interested in the screenshots, that's simple to replicate and tweak. Personally I was interested in seeing the core so that I could plan where I need to re-tweak the shopping carts I support and what things I can take out as it is standard in the core. But no biggy, it will come when it comes. 8)

Any chance that 'Product Options' could be actual products ?

eg Computer Memory, it's included in a PC as an option but can also be sold seperately as an upgrade, so holding and maintaining a single stock figure would be great.

Thanks

I don't see that happening in 1.5 maybe farther down the road.

yea that concept is a good idea but not sure how to make it work. Products and options are completely separate. We would maybe need a new option "type" that allows you to list other products as options for a product. But we are doing so much to options now as it is that we don't want to overcomplicate things just yet.

I've updated the demo with the latest version of the code to date. Be sure to hit Ctrl+F5 to refresh the css changes
http://unbannable.com/dev150/
There is still a bit of css fine tuning that needs to be done.

For those who haven't seen the new option possibilities in action, you can see it here:
