depends what you want. If you just want some extra text then you can just add:


look at me


whereever you want in that layout.tpl file

For the reasons of wanting to know how it works and also to keep the layout file uncluttered and simple I would prefer to have only the reference in the layout.

This one links to the "mymenu" style as defined in the css that the layout.tpl is linked to. In standadrd Open Cart, this would be the default.css


This would link to whatever you defined $mymenu to be in the controller file
eg If you are in a product page, then look for $mymenu in the product.php file. See what it is defined as.

You could define $mymenu to be "Look at me" in the .php
Then call up $mymenu variable in the layout.tpl and it will echo "Look at me".

Did I get it right Q? Can I take off my "L" plates now  :P
